Orutsararmiut Native Council’s Annual Meeting is scheduled for April 29, 2017 at the ONC Multipurpose Building. We encourage all tribal members to attend. Three (3) ONC Council seats E, F & G are up for election this year.
Any enrolled ONC Tribal Member age 18 or older is eligible to become a
candidate for office in the Orutsararmiut Native Council, those interested must meet the following requirements per Ordinance 96-1 (a):
1.) Has physically resided within the village for a period of one (1) year
immediately preceding the date of the election in which he/she seeks office, unless the
person’s absence is because of work, medical disability or military service not
exceeding ninety (90) days.
2.) Has not been convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for more than (1) year, except State fishing and/or hunting convictions.
Candidates must file statements of their candidacy with the Tribal office no sooner than (March 1, 2017) (60) sixty days before the date of the election; and be
included by name on the official mail-in or absentee ballot, no later than March 21st, 2017. Candidates must declare which (3) three of the (7) seven Council seats E, F, and G they are running for, and may only run for 1 seat in any election. The Tribal office shall make public the list of candidates not less than 30 days preceding the date of the election.
