The 2022 camp was a great success, and we look forward to another fun camp in 2023. Check back here in Spring 2023 for more details!<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"SCC Outreach 2022\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yg9PJLxn7Xc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overview<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ONC Natural Resource Department led its first Science and Culture Camp in 2017 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">intended to introduce local tribal youth to natural resource focused careers and co-led a larger career exploration program targeting Alaska Native Engineering and Science students <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from the region in 2018. ONC continues these efforts in engaging tribal youth in the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">natural resource field in hopes of fostering increased interest among youth to serve the Yukon-<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kuskokwim Delta Region as advisory council members, managers, research biologists and tribal stewards. ONC conducted a natural resource based summer program with a cultural component and large emphasis on Kuskokwim natural resource management in 2019. In 2021 and 2022, we partnered with the University of Alaska Fairbanks Kuskokwim University Campus and the Lower Kuskokwim School District to offer college and high school credit for students attending the camp.
