JOIN Science and Culture Camp this summer! This year we aim to provide an in-person COVID-19-safe camp with fewer virtual sessions. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 safe protocols and will make adjustments as needed as we get closer to the start of our camp.
The camp will help you gain exposure to a wide variety of career opportunities in fisheries and wildlife sciences as well as in Tribal governance. You will gain new knowledge and skills in the biological sciences and Traditional Knowledge. You’ll be able to spend time with local Elders. You may go out on the river, fishing, berry picking, and harvesting local plants. You will learn more about traditional and western ways of monitoring and managing natural resources. Evenings may be spent playing outdoor sports, learning about stars, exploring the tundra or river, and roasting s’mores by the fire. We will provide options for Bethel and non-Bethel LKSD students to join this program. All program costs are free!
This Science & Culture Camp can also be taken for college credit. Only students who are high school juniors or seniors, are in good academic standing, and have completed 1 biology and 1 math class will be eligible to receive college credit.
